“Did you guys know you opened on National Nail Polish Day?” asked a client days after our soft launch.
We opened our doors for the first time last Friday, June 1st and we couldn’t have imagined a better day. Believe it or not, we opened on NATIONAL NAIL POLISH DAY and we had zero clue. Seriously, zero. Dreaming, planning and making the LAKWERK salon come to life has consumed our every second, minute, hour and day.
The day was filled with hundreds of nail art creations, donuts, presents, music, champagne and flowers covering every inch of the salon. We’ve been waiting such a long time for this day and it was so special for us to see it turn out so well.
The joy, excitement and happiness from our clients beamed through our salon. Our team of artists created looks ranging anywhere from colorful graphic prints to minimalistic nude designs.
When we began thinking about what we wanted the interior of LAKWERK to be we had one goal in mind and that was to inspire art and creativity. We had a snake sketched that is now printed slithering down one of our walls and main window. We wanted the salon to have an Asian feel mixed with modern furniture, bold colors and collages. The Slangenpand aka Snakehouse in Amsterdam was a huge inspiration behind the interior. Unfortunately, the Slangenpand is permanently closed now but we are keeping the street art vibe alive on Spuistraat.
Street art, pop art, illustration, minimalism, geometry and more inspire the nail art we do at LAKWERK. The beauty of our team is that each nail technician has their own style and talent which offers a lot of diversity for our clients. We currently have eight full-time nail technicians, two interns, and a floor manager which are all freelancers. We have 165 colors to choose from and are continuously growing our collection. We use OPI, CND and Yinger for all our manicures and pedicures and also sell Faby, nail tools, oils and more.
Anyone is welcome for advice, tips and tricks at LAKWERK. We offer a variety of treatments which means any look you desire is possible. We’ve taken extensive measures to make LAKWERK unlike any other salon. Many people hate being in nail salons simply because of the strong acetone smell.
At LAKWERK we’ve eliminated that problem by using professional tools and removers which means our air is acetone and alcohol free. We can’t wait to give all our clients the best manicure and pedicure. Come stop by, we’d love to pamper you and take you on this exciting new journey with us.
